GEORGE BEST COSTACOS
CULTURAL & CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION

The George "Best" Costacos Cultural and Cancer Research Foundation was founded in 2009 to honour the life, work and philanthropic spirit of the late Broadway singer and actor George "Best" Costacos. Besides his artistic accomplishments, he is remembered for his support to young artists and researchers in the field of cancer.



The
Foundation is supporting and organising activities for children, athletics and culture on Aegina island and in New York.

Some of the activities that has been taken place in 2009:
Children's Christmas party in the village of Aghia Marina & Children's Carnaval Party in Aegina town, Parade on 5th avenue N.Y with representatives from Aegina and Theatre Actors Equity Members, Annual George Best Costacos Awards in the Old Greek Parliament for people that has contributed to Science, Culture and Philanthropy.

Planned activities 2010: Setting up a summer house for children with cancer on Aegina close to the sea and forest, where children can relax after being operated. Organising theatre and games for children, Culture and Painting Exhibition in Athens - in May and more ....

George Best Costacos Awards 2009

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine received 10th December 2009, the first annual Award of George "Best" Costacos Cultural and Cancer Research Foundation for significant philanthropic activities at the National Historical Museum (an old Parliament building) in Athens. At the same ceremony, choreographer Maria Hors was awarded for her contributions to the arts.

In 2009, the George "Best" Costacos Cultural and Cancer Research Foundation Award was given for the first time, and the Foundation intents to make this a traditional event which will honour distinguished individuals in the arts, science and philanthropy.

This outstanding ceremony in Athens was very well attended by representatives of Greek public and cultural life, and many of George Costacos friends and admirers from Greece and United States of America.
