AEGINA MARATHON
Aegina Marathon was founded in 2009 by the family & friends of George Best Costacos to honor his memory.
The first event that Aegina Marathon had organised was the George Best Costacos memorial 16 km run on saturday 11th of July 2009. Over 150 runners and 50 walkers had joined the event and participants came from various countries in and outside Europe. The run was a great succes due to the efforts of many volunteers, the municipality of Aegina & various sponsors.

The aim of the organisation is to annually organise a run which can eventually grow into a larger event with a full Marathon distance. The annual run will keep the memory of George - and the memory of the various causes he was involved with – very much alive.
